New development of PBT fibers(1)

So far,polyester fiber is the most important and fast developing fibres.when talk about “polyester”,people often think it is polyethylene terephthalate or PET,however, recent years, it includes some other polymers with different chemical structure, especially for PBT,PTT and PEN.

In fiber science,according to regulation of international Bureau of Standardization of man-made fibres (BISFA),the definition of ”synthetic fiber” is: polyester fiber is a fiber consists of liner large molecular,mass fraction of ester which produced by diol and terephthalic acid should not less than 85%.Thus,we could consider PBT and PTT as polyester,but not PLA and PEN. In polyester family,the most important and old one is PET,which has been commercialized since 1950s.

The breakthrough of synthetic technology of 1,3 propylene glycol by Shell/Zimmer and Dupond make the youngest newcomer PTT welcomed.

Rather than PET or PTT.this article is an introduction of “middle” member in polyester family,the different size of diol conisists of polymer make three polymers member with different features.
